The fastest forex licences, and what you give up for speed
Speed and recognition pull in opposite directions. Here are the quickest routes, ranked, with an honest note on what each one does and does not give you, and on the “fast licences” that are not licences at all.

The fastest routes are a Saint Lucia IBC (no licence, days to about two weeks) and Comoros licences from Mwali or Anjouan (weeks, disputed recognition). Regulated offshore licences such as Seychelles or Mauritius take several months.

What really decides how fast you launch
The regulator’s review is often not the slowest step. What usually decides your launch date:
- A complete file. The Seychelles FSA aims to decide within 30 working days of a complete application but returns incomplete ones; CIMA in the Cayman Islands does not consider incomplete applications at all.
- Local people. Seychelles requires a full-time resident director and two resident officers; Belize requires a resident chief executive and compliance officer. Hiring them takes longer than drafting manuals.
- Capital and premises. Belize requires capital to be deposited in Belize before grant; Seychelles requires an office that meets published criteria before you file.
- Banking and payments. A licence without a bank account and payment provider does not let you trade. Start these conversations early.
- Platform onboarding. MT5 licences, liquidity and CRM integration run in parallel but have their own lead times.
Fast options that are not licences
Some of the fastest offers on the market are not forex licences at all, according to the regulators themselves:
- Saint Lucia: the FSRA states that “forex business is not licensed in Saint Lucia”. An IBC is a company, useful as an MT5 base.
- St Vincent and the Grenadines: the FSA issues no forex licences and, since January 2023, requires a foreign licence for forex companies.
- Antigua and Barbuda: the FSRC stated in January 2026 that CFD trading is not regulated by it.
- Dominica and Cabo Verde: no offshore forex licence exists.
The Comoros island licences from Mwali and Anjouan are fast, but the Central Bank of the Comoros stated on 8 December 2025 that the island authorities are not recognised and that no forex “Brokerage License” has been issued in the Comoros. See our guide on buying ready-made licences.
Start fast, upgrade later
Many brokers combine speed and credibility: they launch with a Saint Lucia IBC as an MT5 base, or knowingly with a Mwali licence, then add a regulated entity in Mauritius or Seychelles once the business proves itself. Plan the group structure from the start so the second licence does not require rebuilding everything, and never describe the first entity as something it is not.

What is the fastest forex licence in 2026?
The fastest documents are Comoros island licences (weeks), but their recognition is disputed by the Central Bank of the Comoros. Among recognised licences, Seychelles, Belize and Vanuatu are typically the quickest at around three to six months.
What is the fastest way to get MT5 without a licence?
A Saint Lucia IBC, formed in days, is widely used as the company for an MT5 licence application. It is not a forex licence and must not be presented as one.
How long does the Seychelles FSA take?
Its service standard is 30 working days from a complete application. Set-up of the company, office and resident staff usually makes the whole project three to six months.
Can I buy a ready-made licence to save time?
In recognised jurisdictions the regulator must approve the new owners, so the time saving is limited. Read the risks of buying a ready-made licence.
Which fast licence do banks accept?
Banks and payment providers generally prefer recognised licences such as Mauritius or Seychelles. Comoros licences and unlicensed companies face more refusals.
